My lovely Enigma Etape as shot by Niall Baird for his calendar a couple of years ago on the the Jura ferry. On the basis that you can only fill the space you have available, I always use Ortlieb Sports Tourer bags which are plenty large for hostel and B&B touring.

Excellent - with matching panniers as well!

I've now finished building my 'medium-weight' touring bike, with discs, unfortunately it's not a Roberts - pictures to follow when the weather improves a bit. I thought it might have been this morning as the sun shone for a short while, but by the time I set off for a short bike ride at 10 am it was back to being dismal again.

Recognise that, northern Spain, Alisas pass heading toward the Matienzo depression. There is an ironwork cycling frieze round the bend!

New Surly LHT frame fitted, will be riding to work to see how it feels but it feels a lot more stable, sure footed a suited to the JOGLE tour coming up:

Phil - nice looking build (looks like bar-end shifters so assume it's not off-the-peg?).

I'm contemplating one of these for a winter bike that can also do an annual B&B tour; would you mind sharing your build if you have a few mins?

Thanks in advance

Yes, certainly, I'm at work now until late, but on my home PC I've kept a spreadsheet of every single part & price. I bought the frame set only; I built the wheels myself with new hubs & spokes, but used rims. I had saddle, seat post bar & stem and bought a mix of new & S/hand gear from different places. I can send you the spreadsheet if you like?
