Round the world blogging

Used to love reading Emily Chappells, but she's back home for the time being. Any good long distance touring blogs out there at the minute:?:

I can strongly recommend this blog, which is still going on: https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/pag ... 1287&v=1Vb

The early accounts are as interesting as the ones in more exotic locations, for example, their island hopping through Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily and then through the foot of Italy to Greece.

Have a little sniff around the forum, many folks have a shameless plug to their own site/blog under their messages

Not all will be on trips right now but I'm sure there's good reading around....

Some interesting stuff on your site (not just your blog), would be interested to know how you managed to get sponsors ?

Hi Dave,

Where in Cheshire are you from? I basically sent off about a hundred emails with letters attached to them to various companies. The letter just said what I was doing, offering them access to all my photos and a plug on my website.

Thanks for the kind words about my website.

All the best,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Am from Runcorn.

Interesting about the sponsors, would like to do a trip abroad next year and wondered about sponsors. I have friends who run their own business's who would sponsor me but one is a health spa, one is a fashion blog and one is a hair salon. So no idea what to ask for off them, suppose it would have to money for some kind of advertising.

This is another long distance blog I have just come across: http://www.slothsonwheels.blogspot.co.uk

Probably worth reading the "Us" section on the blog first to get an idea who they are.

Best to ask yourself - do you really need sponsors? The time taken to send off hundreds of emails vs. the time taken to earn that money. Similarly, potential sponsors will want value in return. It is almost impossible to get financial support, but gear would be possible in return for reviews/web-advertising etc. Given the option, I would go without sponsors... in fact I'm starting to carry less and less new gear and making do, just to keep my freedom!
