We are setting off to France in a couple of weeks on a cycle camping trip - other than buying train tickets to Dijon we've planned nothing. Have been looking at cycle routes around Burgundy but also tempted by Jura. The scenery there looks wonderful but maybe too hilly for us. Any advice on good routes? We like quiet, lovely scenery, camping opportunities, not necessarily in campsites, not too hard as our bikes end up very heavy and we have an 11 year old with us (mind you she's normally up the hills first...) We have 18 days
any recommendations much appreciated
Cycle camping tour to Burgundy or Jura?
Re: Cycle camping tour to Burgundy or Jura?
If you mean Jura in Scotland there are not many roads there. Burgundy is a bit like England, very pleasant with better weather and wine

no Jura in France - near Burgundy!
Re: Cycle camping tour to Burgundy or Jura?
We recently rode through both Borgogne and Jura along EuroVelo 6 and enjoyed both areas. There is an interesting wine cycle loop through the Borgogne area through Mersault, Beaune and Nuits St George. The Doubs valley cycle route through the north part of the Jura from Dole to Montbelliard is very good, no hills if you stay on the river. Numerous campsites and wild camping opportunities. Most shops in small town and villages close onSunday and Monday.
It may be hot 35-40C.
Have a great trip

Jura is an island in Scotland, the Jura is a mountain range in France.
You don't talk about going to Alp for a holiday do you?

Jura, no "the", is a region of France, named after the mountains which are in the area. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jura_(department) The Jura mountains also substantially cross into Switzerland, and a small part is in Germany too.

ok the Jura - i get it now... and thanks for route suggestion - middle kid wants to follow Eurovelo 6 to where it meets Eurovelo 5, then head south ... sounds quite uphilly though...
