change of cycling area

Post by newbootclimbco »

Its a big decision that I'm thinking of, and that is to uproot myself from East Dorset to Minehead area of Somerset. Perhaps no big deal if your youngish and reasonable fit, but at 65 years of age and with crappy knees and a dodgy back. Its the hills i'm concerned about, Dorset flat on a lot of my routes and I can find some decent hills if I want.Exmoor and the coastal areas seem really hilly, If I move house will I suffer in silence or have to give up cycling ?. Also whats the cycling like in the summer with all the extra holiday traffic ?. I see there's a local cycle club, are there many solo riders about ?.Too many Questions, hope you readers may have a few answers, cheers T.

There is a third option being taken up by older riders in my hilly area. The electric assist, it was keeping two people out on their bikes when they could no longer have managed otherwise.
