Honourary Auditor

Postby kirby.james » 15 Oct 2011, 9:03pm

When Member Groups submit their accounts they must be audited locally by an "Honourary Auditor". The Honourary Auditor must not be on the Member Group Committee - but it is not clear what qualifications the Honorary Auditor requires.

Do they need a formal qualification - or can they be a numerate person? Does anyone know?

No formal qualifications or experience required.
It's just common sense and a willingness to go through the sometimes tedious detail, the treasurer should have that detail laid out in a plain format, but the auditor needs the confidence to ask questions and be sure what is being presented is correct.
