Hi Heather,
I have only just stumbled upon this after Googling your Dad. I was a member of the Juniors in West Kent CTC in the early '80's. Fond memories of Bill and cycling with him. Happy days.
I can remember when your brother rear ended a car in Cornwall on Bill's Alec Bird machine. The bike was wrecked, but Pete got away without too much damage.
Sorry to hear about your loss.

Re: obituaries
I have only just come across this. I first remember Bill at the start of the 1995 Paris-Brest-Paris. He Lived in Devon, as I did, and we coincided occasionally on long rides here and there.
I wondered what had happened to him. His old friend Bryan had lost contact as well.
Bill was a great character

Re: obituaries
I do not recall whether this thread arose before or after Cycling UK stopped publishing obituaries in Cycle. I believe the OPs intention was solely to advise of her father's passing.
There is a dedicated area of the Cycling UK website, I know neither how long that has been running nor how long obituaries remain available to read on the site.
There is no formal obituaries section within the forum, recent discussion here.

I've just spotted that Johnny Mapplebeck died in Canada aged 101 on 23 September 2020. As good a role model for cycling as you might find.

For those who knew Doreen Leheup of Nottingham:

In addition to which, she was the best mother-in-law one could wish for!
