A Vote for Evans
I know it's fashionable to knock the big chain stores but I have just bought a new n+1 from Evans, Deansgate Manchester and can't fault the service. Sales assistants were knowledgeable, extremely helpful and patient (to an old codger) and not pushy. Compared to my two local LBSs: one geared to racing whippets who barely conceal their disdain at my steel Dawes and the other where they just can't seem to be ars*d. The bike was good value too.

While I on about bike shops I must add a recommendation for http://cycleservicecentre.net in Horwich near Bolton. Just does repairs and servicing; quick, cheap and a great guy, will even advise on how to fix thing!

I can't recommend Geoff Smiths highly enough for best bikeshop of Bolton. You'll not find a nicer more knowledgeable chap anywhere I don't think.

Ah the mercurial Mr Smith. Depends what mood he is in - sometimes think he is competing in a Mr Misery contest. I also like he stock management policy - 'if you can see it I've got it'. He certainly knows what he's talking about and he is a tandem rider although I think he was was quite offended at the sight of my 26" wheeled tandem with suspension forks
