Tiagra vs 105 STIs (I've Upgraded)

Sounds similar (though not quite so bad) as the issues I had (mine was 10 speed). I'd pretty well exhausted everything (i.e. everything else had been swapped and re-setup by highly regarded LBSs) until I swapped the STIs for 105s.

Sounds like hanger bent, or gear cable fixed wrong side of derailleur...

Two good bike shops checked the derailleur with their special machine. Problems had been bad pretty well since new so if cable fixed the wrong side then Genesis started it by assembling it like that and then a couple of excellent LBSs (and a few not so excellent ones) failed to spot it whilst trying to resolve the issue.
