I can honestly say this is the best one I recall having - have spent £20 plus on things from Topeak (usually a good outfit) but no joy. Seem to remember buying one branded Schwalbe of all things that I had to return as it was awful - just leaked so much pressure before you got a reading that it was useless - a common problem.

This thing is really well made, actually quite (reassuringly) heavy, really solid, doesn't leak much at all if you are sensible when you put it on the valve, and the technique is easy to acquire.

It holds the pressure when you remove it, allowing you to read off the clear dial at your leisure, and then reset it using the very solid button.

It has two separate inputs for schrader and presta, avoiding possible complications with "clever" heads.

The tops of both ends screw off, which in theory, if you can find suitable things from somewhere, maybe an old pump, allows you to replace the rubber seals.

The manufacturer, it turns out, made an excellent pump that Edinburgh Bike Co-OP used to sell - that pump's only fault is that it cannot be taken apart for servicing, but mine is still working fine.

Note that they very sportingly allow you to "make an offer". My first offer was rejected very politely and rather charmingly when they gave their reasons as "no profit left".

I think I got it for £6 in the end.

I am over the moon with it.
No leakage.
Good positive type action and holds the pressure so you can look at it.
You then release the pressure with a button.
No vagueness about it.

Did I mention I am dead pleased with it?

My delivery was fast but doubtless yours was faster, being from the UK.

It had long mystified me why a civilisation that put folk on the moon half a century ago couldn't produce a bicycle pressure gauge that didn't just go pftt

my best one before this was a cheapo plasticky thing which I think also had a release button but from memory possibly didn't fit both valve types.

Anyway, together with you grarea, I commend this thing to the forum.

No need whatsoever to spend more.

Timely, and by conicidence I have also recently bought and returned the fancy Topeak digital gauge (hopelessly unusable) and an unbadged version of the Schwalbe one (equally hopeless). Will order one from the UK outlet.

I should have returned my Topeak - you had the same problem as me? - no way of getting it on the valve without it just spurting air out?
You will like this one.
There is also a digital unit from the same company - more expensive though still less than the Topeak. But the old fashioned dial one is fine.

Please report back on your impressions of your new gauge.

Yes, leakage and it read that it lost 0.5 bar each time I tried to take a reading! Will certainly report back in due course.

Am assuming that the bits the valves stick into are the same as the mechanical version.

I've had a Topeak digital gauge for about seven years without a problem,the Schwalbe one OTOH stopped working after around 12 months and was scrapped.
I've just ordered the one that Grarea linked to on Ebay as a spare,I'll report back when I get it.

I've had something similar to the original recommendation for several years bought for car use with schrader only and it seems excellent. One problem, of course, is that in the absence of specialist calibration, you never know how accurate it is. I've taken mine at face value and been very satisfied. I'm not sure that something which seems quite delicate would stand any rough use or dropping.

How do they make a profit selling at six quid, post free?

I've had two of the Schwalbe ones fail, just stopped working, first replaced under warranty, gave up on the second and it went in the bin.
Wouldn't mind another, but not sure this is going to be any more accurate than those on pumps (Which IME isn't that good), looks to be the same principle.

Maybe there was a batch problem with the topeak. Mine is definitely unusable, a waste of 20 plus quid. I think you will find the giyo reassuringly heavy, in fact so solid and heavy I struggle to figure out what's inside it.

I'm impressed,it appears to be well made with rubber protection around the vulnerable parts,with a nice recessed chrome release button on the side,looks and feels robust.
I've tried it out on Schrader valve car tyres at low 33psi and on Presta valve 70 psi bike tyres,checked against my digital Topeak gauge and dial gauge on my Topeak Joe Blow track pump,all three are in agreement,so I'm assuming a fair degree of accuracy as can be without some form of absolute.
There's no leakage that I can detect in use so minimal air loss when checking TP's.
And I really like seeing a dial instead on numerals
Verdict,great buy, but obviously time will tell it goes the distance.
