Cotswold Outdoor (Salisbury)

Post by PT1029 »

On the morning of the 2nd day of a 5 day trip down to the Isle of Wight and back, Jon's tent pole (Vango) cracked at the sleeved joint.
Went into Salisbury (en route) and found Cotswold Outdoor (who stock Vango). The young lad serving seemed a tad vague on spares, but we had a look at the camping section. He then said he'd ask the manager. She immediately produced the shop's Vango tent pole repair kit and unrolled it on the floor. None of the pole sections (there were quite a few) fitted, but there were 2 repair sleeves that weren't an ideal fit, but offered some hope. She said Jon could have them for free. I suggested insulation to help locate the sleeves. Sorry, they didn't sell tape, but we were directed to a stall in the near by market place who sold all manner of tapes.
So thank you Cotswold Outdoor, a task that could have taken a couple of hours trapsing about town was concluded in about 15 minutes.
The pole thus survived the 5 day trip.
