Marathon vs Marathon Greenguard

My experience of switching from Marathon HS368 37-622 to Marathon GG 37-622 on my Spa Tourer - I have been impressed. But other sizes may give other results. I thought pretty highly of the old Marathon. The blocks on the surface of the tread don't stop the tread from flexing in the hand and yet they provide an extra layer to ride on above the debris. Whilst they are strong tyres, with surprisingly good off-road grip, over the years I have had quite a few punctures from thorns, slivers of glass and flint etc.
So a recent switch to GG. In the hand they feel heavier, the tread is stiff and the sidewalls seem less high. Uh oh I though, less vertical compliance here. Getting them on the rim was a bit harder but still ok. However I have been pleasantly surprised by their superior comfort and speed at the same pressures. Have ridden them in the wet and on hard frosty mornings and had no unpleasant surprises. No punctures yet. I understand that different widths have different cases in terms of sidewall thickness etc. A 32-559 tyres on a suspended bent did not impress in the same way. I am very pleased with the 37-622 GG.
