2019 Ridgeback Expedition
2019 Ridgeback Expedition
What's up with the new 2019 Ridgeback Expedition? On their website at the Expedition page, the sizing menu doesn't work and at the bottom they tell you, 'coming soon'. It's almost March and they're still deciding whether to market it?
Re: 2019 Ridgeback Expedition
Sizing worked all right for me at https://www.ridgeback.co.uk/bike/expedition-2019
Yes coming soon, probably waiting for Brexit
Looking at the H Young site https://www.hyoung.co.uk/our-businesses Ridgeback is not yet listed.

Re: 2019 Ridgeback Expedition
I know this wasn't your question, but I can't help observing that nice as it is, you could buy a 1990s rigid MTB off Gumtree and build essentially the same thing for perhaps 1/3 of the price that Ridgeback is asking.
Re: 2019 Ridgeback Expedition
There's a couple of things that would make a good bike into a great straight out of the box IMO:-
1,a slacker seatube angle
2,better quality hubs instead of m475's,XT M756's are far superior.
3,BB7 disc brakes, instead of the Promax low end calipers.
No1 would cost nothing but make a more versatile machine especially in the larger sizes. No's 2 and 3 would add a maximum of £100 to the overall retail cost but would be far better.

I know this wasn't your question, but
I did that four years ago: found a nice Raleigh c. early 90's MTB on ebay, for fifty quid. Has a decent Reynolds 501 and rides fine. I always thought to upgrade it to touring spec, but they tell me the spend would be equivalent to a new mid range bike. I'm not sure you'd build something good for 1/3 Ridgeback i.e. £350, but please tell if possible.
