Kids bike carriers?

Post by MrMannyCalavera1 »

Hi guys. My seven year old has this bike

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BM7IJ4I/ ... QRANNKPN18

The space between the handlebars and the seat is approx 15"

I can't fit the bike in my car anymore as I've downgraded size to a fiat 500 so I purchased a bike rack:

https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-r ... 39061.html

The problem is all of these bike racks require an adult sized frame to mount the bike. You can get a false crossbar but they're all a minimum of 23" and the bike only has 15" so they wouldn't fit on my son's bike.

Has anyone any experience or can anyone offer any suggestions for how I can mount the bike?

Thank you

Welcome.

Can you add a photo of the bike held against the rack?

Will the supports fit between the spokes so that the bikes can hang upside down from the wheels?

I've carried kids bikes on carriers before. Depending on the bike, I have:

-Stuck the carrier through the wheels (carried upside down)
-hooked the saddle over one side and the frame over the other
-stuck the carrier through the frame & one wheel
-stuck the carrier through the frame, and between the frame and front wheel

Needless to say, this needs to be well-secured. I generally used at least a bike lock & a couple of extra bungee cords. I have often also had adult bikes in front to help secure a child's bike.
