Specialised Toupe

Several weeks ago I changed the Fizik Pave saddle on my Cannondle road bike for a Specialised Toupe Ti.

Although well padded the Fizik didn't support my sit bones very welland pushed my plums back to where they had dropped from many years ago. Apart from the obvious I got a sore right hip & sore hamstring & inner thigh muscles. Changing height & tilt had no effect.

The Toupe, which comes in a choice of 3 widths so get measured, has been a revalation. Although it has no discernable padding it really is comfortable & all the aches & pains have gone. A really nice saddle. Well recommended.

I proves that good design & correct sizing is far more important than padding.

Pay attention! That would be a toupé! (As used in experiments to assess motorists reactions to different types of cyclists.)

And I don't want any smart-ass saying 'keep your hair on.'

They may well be very popular for all I know, how would I be able to tell if the Toupe was real or not, would they fit well and not move in the slipstream? I'm not sure but I think my one of the chaps who worked here may have had one.....
