I am really struggling with Plotaroute .....
Personally i find it the most non-intuitive mapping site ever ....
Any recommendations for a computer literate, but secret luddite, friendly mapping site ?

I haven't switched a computer on for months. Last time I used a computer for making routes I used http://cycle.travel/
I struggle with Plotaroute too.
I use Mapout app on IPad and phone. So simple, dragging a finger along the roads to make a route. Imports GPX and KML too.
Whatever I am, wherever I am, this is me. This is my life

I tend to use ridewithgps. Another that is easy to use is mapmyride.

Prospective route for the Rotherham Roller.

http://cycle.travel/map/journey/51118

Its a lovely route showing some of the best of the area I ride in daily.
I would recommend the route be ridden anti-clockwise.
There are good cafes and bike friendly pubs all the way round.

And http//cycle.travel is the easiest to use mapping site i have ever seen .... many thanks Paulatic.

Thanks Landsurfer, I'm looking forward to this, it's great meeting up and getting to see parts of the country we don't normally get out to explore on the bike.

A note of caution. I use cycle.travel
It is great and easy to use but does include 'green lanes' not really suitable for road tyres. You need to vet any sort ware created routes to route around these. It's easy to do but not much fun finding out halfway through an 80 mile ride.

I use plotaroute i find it great on a pc but I admit it's a bit difficult with a touch screen on the iPad it keeps adding to the route while I'm trying to navigate my way around the 'control buttons'

I noticed that Steve, it comes up in the route info box. I've edited all of the off road out but will cycle / drive the whole route this weekend to confirm.

Hi guys. :D

I've not been following this thread specifically for ages, and now it's out to 40odd pages.
I tried starting at the beginning and reading it all, but it's a bit too much on an afternoon in the sunshine.
Did I mention that I'm outside on the patio? :D

Old-Man-on-a-Bike has suggested that there's a place available for me. I'm very very tempted indeed, but I'd like a potted version of the final itinerary, accommodation arrangements and dates etc to get my head round it all. I could read all the 40odd pages, but meanwhile my beer would warm up and go flat!
