It's a climb-and-a-half I do every day. I often pass LEJOGERs and I haven't the heart to tell them that if they'd just stayed on the A466 Wye Valley Road they could have had a much nicer, easier ride...

From my first trip that way, I came up from The Severn Bridge through Tintern etc to Monmouth and turned north on the A40.
That was during my LEJOG and Back.

You can miss out the A40 stretch (which is not pleasant cycling) by taking the Sustrans track (it's in very good nick) from Monmouth to Symmonds Yat. And it's shorter and flat.

A couple of Audaxs use it.
