I am curious, are you thin / slim and oldish, also was it a leather saddle?
Overweight could also explain, that's similar to extreme riding of course.........like a heavy rucksack ouch.
On the turbo it can be uncomfortable after an hour , feels like a day, sweat and heat and lack of ventilation along with not reacting to bumps, also bum not leaving saddle, and continuous effort which is not normal real riding.
And off road I once stopped with pain after less than a mile (my saddle is good for 300 miles ((continuous ride)) with little fatigue normally) Rucksack did not help but normally ok, put it down to track strewn with rocks.
Much is said about higher bars on bikes but puts more weight on bum, so I always find this counter intuitive along with bad ergonomics.......vicious circle...........

Hi,
Sorry for late reply. Have been through a lot of this before. I am 5ft 4ins, 61 kgs, very slim obviously with that weight, pretty fit as I play tennis two evenings per week and lots of cycling. Was measured for the right bike and have subsequently changed the stem and a few bits as it never felt right. Very comfortable with the bike. I ditched the Brooks leather saddle that I tried and several others. Many different cycling clothes. Tried lot of different suggestions by well meaning folks, but I think the problem is my body ie. my sit bones. Thanks for your input though.

I had a lot of undercarriage sores when I sat on a brooks b17. I thought that was the bees knees in comfort so I had a saddle pressure mapping done. It turned out I was sitting on the nose of the saddle so my sit bones were not taking my weight. Other posters have already mentioned how personal a saddle is for the rider. It seems my sit bones are very wide at the back but narrow sharply, so I opted for a womans saddle, wide at the back but a narrow nose, a bit of padding and generous cut out and I have found something much more suitable for me.

Hi,
Yes a possible mapping of sit bones may be the way to go.
Considering how many saddles are available today does make me wonder how we got on years ago.
I am fortunate that I fell on a saddle which is very good for my anatomy, stupidly cheap.
I have ridden brooks, I had a swallow over 40 years ago probably one of the most comfortable saddles I have ridden.
The B17 std, chafs after 100 miles for me, the narrow might fair better.
But leather is always going to be fragile due to its reliability with the weather.

Unless she changes her mind, the wife will be following in our van so I won’t be leaving one there.

Just in case anyone wants to know what I originally meant by Lejog for Wimps (see first post of this topic),
I've just done the first 3 days of mine. I'll contemplate the next half dozen days in a few weeks.
As for you lot doing your 'Wimp' ride, all I can say is that you all sound pretty tough and adventurous to me!

Routes taken:

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2716183841
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2721176286
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2721176380

I'm quite proud of the low speeds, though admittedly they were headwind assisted........
Anyway, good luck to all you pseudo Wimps!

We once talked about you joining us for a day or two rides, if you want to do that let me know what area you live in and I can tell you when we will be near there. It would be great to meet up

I see you used the Granite Way to Okehampton.
No issue really, but the Granite Way near Okehampton isn't the best cycle route as you have to go through gates and up and down ramps.

Best route from OldA30 is turn left onto the A386 and go under the A30 and past the service area. Do less than a mile on that road and turn right down a little lane signposted Meldon. Down the bottom of the short hill, join the OldA30 again and follow it into Okehamton.

I was on that route only on Tuesday, though I did use the Granite Way further south but came off to do the above.
Believe me, my way is easier.

Is there anywhere we can talk practicalities outside the forum, like can I scrounge a cup of hot water for coffee (AM) and cup a soup (PM) or do I need to bring a stove / kettle. Do I need to bring a chunky lock for overnight lockage of the bike, is anyone riding with a pump that actually inflates tyres, or should I look for something better than I have, etc...

2 choices = PM on this forum, but that is only individual, or you should have had a list of Wimps Email contacts.
An Email can be sent to all in the group at once.
We also have the Wimps Strava but I am not sure if that can be used.
You'll never know if you don't try it.
