Again, sounds good. You’d love riding the hill I live at the top of....

Sadly I can’t get 3 weeks away from work. I did this year but it caused some uproar. I will try to join you for a week or some weekends.

At the moment 3 weeks is guesstimate how long can you get? landsurfer would have to decide when, I would guess August September but all is flexible I'm just looking at possibilities. Length of time would depend on the route and everybodies preference would be considered

I agree that 3 weeks is difficult.....as most bosses will agree to 2 weeks max. I possibly will have to take the third week as unpaid, but am prepared to do it if neccessary

Also think we should do this as an unsupported ride.
Having a vehicle shadowing us for 3 weeks, it will be hard to get a driver ...
And to be honest my vans need to be working .... 3 weeks is a long time for my guys to be without the big van ...
Personally i'd rather just carry my kit ... not 3 weeks kit, Jules has suggested weekly supply meets which reduces the amount of kit considerably and i would not be cooking ... cafes, pubs, garages would do fine.
Your thoughts fellow conspirators .......

Even carrying a tent, sleeping bag, mat, toiletries, clothes, etc alters the ride a lot. I’ve done little rides loaded up, I’m not sure I’d want to do it for 3 weeks, but that’s because I like to ride with as little extra weight as possible..but I think your point on getting a driver for 3 weeks is a good point...

High Level Plan;
The van would do the pickups and drop off at JOG.
Meet the party at the end of week one with spares, clothing and any other essentials, again at the end of week 2 then collect and do drop-offs at the end of week 3.
Riders would carry a minimum of a tent and sleeping bag or tent share and split the load, one set of spare clothing plus wet weather jacket.
Anything else is your own choice.
Personally i would eat from cafes, pubs garages etc. So no cooker, fuel, plates ... no food to carry.
However i will come armed with a plastic mug and my faithful titanium Spork ...

Meet the party at the end of week one with spares,
Conversely, you could do the whole thing in the week.

126 miles per day.
No thank you.
You'll never know if you don't try it.

...
And a sleeping mat and a pillow. Nick would not be happy to forgo a pillow again [emoji1787]
A morning coffee is essential for me but a lightweight stove and meths weighs nothing.
It’s surprising how little difference the weight makes unless climbing steep hills.

So thats one stove and fuel for morning coffee between us ...
If staying at campsites we could carry an electric kettle and a 2 metre lead and pinch lecky for that morning brew ... like the "mature" chap at Launceston doing his JOGLE .... didn't pay for a pitch with power ... just found an empty power pitch and plugged in long enough for his morning coffee .....

What effect will it have when walking up steep hills .........

So ... we only book campsites with grass to pitch on ...
AH ... The pillow ....
1. Purchase one box of wine or cider.
2. Drink wine or cider.
3. Remove bag from box.
4. Dispose of cardboard box in an environmentally sustainable manner.
5. Inflate bag as pillow.
6. Deflate and pack in morning.
7. Resist desire to deliberately puncture pillow to allow purchase of another box of wine ...
