After thinking about the daily rides it will be a much more enjoyable and for old legs easier ,ride if we reduced the mileage or climbing on the difficult days by extending the ride by two days .
This means leaving lejog on the 23rd June as originally planned And finishing at Lands End on the 6th July.
Some of the overnight stops may need to be changed and minor alterations made to the route to get to them.
If anyone feels that they would like to join us Please let me know as soon as possible .

I see how easily you can get lost
Think you'll be finishing at JoG :D

One thing I've confirmed from our recent ride is that my Garmin 810 reads elevation a lot higher than anyone else's about 500 ft on that ride. No wonder I am always near the top of the wimps strava leaderboard

The rain stopped and the quest to get lost by "Non Direction" continues.

Start 1 50 percent.jpg

Ken, Steve, John (BA CC), Pete, David, Kev and John...

Friday night at the Pub, riding in warm rain, discussions at T junctions :) , the cafe, the warm dry afternoon, Jules and Linda's positive explorations of cake, craft and garden centres while we rode. All starting from different way points on our Garmins, or so it seemed  .
The 3 strange people at the campsite who all decided to get very physical and noisy at 2am on Saturday morning ... outside their caravans !!!
How we laughed ...not ! Especially Pete whose tent was only about 12 feet away !!!

Great trip.

And many thanks to John from Bishop Auckland CC who joined us for the day......But won't be doing the LEJOG as he has too much sense...

Wimps Strava
Looks like Sbcoombs did the most riding cycleruk the longest ride and I did the most climbing
The last one is a bit dubious as on the same 50m ride I climbed 500 ft more than anyone else.

Including last Saturday's ride I've done about 200 miles this week, with a bit of climbing (Tintern and back). Managed to cycle 7 days on the trot. It'll be interesting to have to get to the stage where I can more than double that in a week.....

After leering at Kev's totally practical SALSA during our ride last week i am fitting out my latest BTwin 500SE with mudguards, rack and panniers.
And some lower gears ....

But which panniers ?
Rear panniers, reasonably waterproof and easy to get into .... 25 ltr per side, available separately.
Got a nice Blackburn rack gathering dust in the garage.

What brought it home to me was the rain jacket on .. rain jacket off and repeat last weekend.
And spare stuff in panniers....
Kev had a much better set up than me to be honest.
My BTwin has all the right lugs in all the right places ... :)

I was moving bikes yesterday, the Harrison is about half the weight of the Pompino. I'm aiming to use either a Carradice zipped tool roll (v small saddlebag) or the frame bag I had on the Pompino.....
