Wimps Strava Leaderboard
Softlips was on form with a clean sweep of the first places
Sbcoombs won all the second places, I suspect he was turbo assisted
John100 got all three third places

That's 43ft per mile.
Sorry to be a downer on this.
First ride on the LEJOG is from LE to St Columb circa 50miles. That is a leisurely 3,500ft of ascent perhaps. ie 70ft per mile.
100ft per mile is the norm in Cornwall, so that is easy.

My last ride was only 20.66miles but with 2,352ft of ascent.

Is there anyway of looking at past week's results on the Strava group page?

So slightly undulating then [emoji6].

I remember a MTB ride at close to hundred ft per mile a few years ago. It was a long day out. A bit easier on a road bike.

Hopefully everyone will have appropriate gearing. Do folk normally ride compact chainsets down there Mick or are triples the order of the day?

Yes.
On the club page select "club leader board".
There it shows "last weeks leaders".
It also shows "this weeks leaders" but you can also select the box "last week" which gives a more detailed last weeks list.

The above is on the PC but I don't know if it's the same on a mobile phone. ??

Hope this helps.
You'll never know if you don't try it.

I’ve taken Strava app off my IPad and just use Safari. I think the apps only useful on the phone.

There are roadies round here, and they generally keep to the main-ish roads. No doubt they have the fashionable compact doubles.

I too, when I go out on my Mercian keep to those roads, though I've had a triple for some years now, having been a double for many many years before. I ride my Moulton on the minor roads mainly, and that has a very wide set of gears for all the hills.

The main roads aren't too bad for hills, but there are some stinkers if you look for them. The best route through Cornwall and Devon is via the A30 and Old A30, then A39 and further lengths of Old A30, then skirting round to the north of Dartmoor to Crediton and Tiverton then A38 northwards to Bristol.

I also use Safari on the iPad to connect to Strava and this gives the result cycleruk uk advised.
It can be difficult to work out who is who as Strava names ,forum names and real names may be different

My Cannondale Synapse has a triple 50-40-30 with an 11-36 on the rear.
My carbon Giant Defy has a compact on the front and an 11-40 cassette made to work with a 'Road Link' on the hanger.
This is 22 gear inches on both I think
Are we using the best route through Cornwall and Devon?

Ive got a compact with 11/30 rear. I might be grinding up anything bigger than 15 degree.

I don't do this often but I concur.................must be the meds :?
If this is training then 70' / M would be a minimum, You don't have to cover miles, It should be Time and Effort only.
Miles is immaterial on a road bike in La La land.
I normally do time at a particular average effort.
Works wonders for your well being when you are achieving some sort of tough effort.
No need to go mad and train each day killing yourself I.M.O.
My training normally consists of 2.5- 3 hrs three times a week.
There is also no need to continually test yourself on long rides either, when you can do 100 say, then just do 6-9 hrs a week at a reasonable effort..............a HRM is good tool for measuring actual effort with an average % of your max HR. 80% is best, but try to hit 70% at least.
My two cents worth.

My two cents worth.

I've just been given an early xmas present ( Black Friday purchase) of a sports watch which monitors HR.
I could set an alarm to tell me when I get to the desired level of effort but I can't figure out what that would be.
After two days constant monitoring it shows 48 rest 106 high. The only exercise I have done is three mile a day dog walking. I am 70 years of age . How do I calculate my max HR in order to work out the 80%
