Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )
Re: Lejog for wimps please- or am I on my own? ( merged )
Hope the get together all goes well. Sorry can't make it - combination of being away 2-3 weeks returning tomorrow and my niece and her sonn coming to stay slightly unexpectedly from South Africa on Friday for the weekend. Good luck and good weather!

All packed, tent, self inflating mattresses, Sleeping bags (Aldi's finest), box of camping stuff various, folding chairs .....
But ..
Which bike ???
The heavy ( relatively ) but super reliable daily ride BTwin 500 or the light but underused TREK ( with the really low gears ).
Choices, choices ...

My Harrison is in 1 piece but has only completed a 45 min test ride, so I won't be riding that on Saturday. It'll be the bike I put together a week ago, what could go wrong???

Bike choices are hard,
I could use the light weight carbon giant defy advanced 2 which is a bit uncomfortable cos it's a little bit to big for my short arms or the much modified alloy synapse with disc brakes and a extended stem and a just fitted triple chainset to match its 11-36 cassette. Even I should get up the hills on that..
I'm hoping to reach the campsite about 3pm depending on traffic.
A nice pub meal and a pint before trying my first night camping seems in order.

Weather forecast ?
Damp = bike with mudguards.
Dry = bike without mudguards.
I've got my camping list out. Nothing packed yet.
Car Satnav is programmed but now have to decide scenic route or M6 to junction 12 and then A5 to camp.
Expecting to arrive about 2-ish assuming M6 is not gridlocked.

If I can get 2 bikes in the car I'll nip up to Cannock Chase for the afternoon, so should be at the campsite late afternoon...

I am sure we will find a pub and you will get a lift there and if you behave you might get a lift back as well

The Wimps first get together was a great success, 8 camped ( after the pub, food and good chat) Friday night and where joined by a 9th on the day.
The 50 mile ride through Staffordshire, Shropshire and some other "shire" was great fun.
Pouring rain for the first half and sunshine for the second half just set the day up fine.
It was suggested that the riding group have it's own name as "Wimps Legjog" is a route not a group name.
Julie's suggestion of "None Direction" turned out to be very apt.
A more detailed report with pics and stuff to follow after i have had a bath, beer and sleep ......and a chinese ..

An amazing day, we all enjoyed the ride
Rest assured it would be easy to arrange another one around County Durham anytime.
I'm looking forward to the full report and seeing the photos
