Just need to double it for the E2E

The lengths some people will go to get to the top of the Strava leaderboard

Do miles gained in warm sunny climes count? 8)

I can't disqualify him as he could retaliate and disqualify me so in this case best leave well alone lol

I probably topped the leaders board for walked miles. Sadly it’s all I’m allowed currently. Hoping to be back on Turbo before long but road miles are s long way off. Maybe I should sign uk for Zwift so I can do some miles and some ascent.

I’d agree with the oldman just keep walking. I certainly wouldn’t worry about not getting miles in at this stage. I’ve met no end of people on E2E who weren’t even a cyclist til they started it. Most memorable was Mr Spreadsheet from Poole. https://www.mrspreadsheet.co.uk/ Carrying a large hard backed readers digest uk atlas and his laptop along with everything else.

My turn to walk ......

This mornings ride ....
A busy week, first chance to get out this week .... a gentle 30 mile loop around Worksop and Tickhill.
6 miles in ... at Todwick roundabout my left crank came loose... never mind, extensive tool kit with me at all times.
Except there wasn't !!!!
At the last moment i swapped bikes, looked like it was about to pour down so decided to take the BTwin and leave the SPA at home.
Swapped over the Garmin, bottle, pannier ... but not the tool kit.
Never mind, just a 7 mile walk home, and pretty sure a passing cyclist would come to my rescue.
3 miles later, in cycling shoes, at the top of Brampton mile, the figure of a fellow cyclist approaches, he shouts "You Ok", "NO" shouts I.

He went straight past.... right bl**dy past, without even slowing down !!!

I turned and sent a collection of Anglo - Saxon short words after him, and plodded onward.
10 mins later, a call from behind me.
For it is he ...
"Sorry couldn't stop, Strava Segment"
He smiled and produced the 8mm allen key i needed.
Nice chap.
Glad he didn't hear me ! :(

In my neck of the woods, the wind yesterday morning was brutal. Went to Birmingham with BRC.

Wind was brutal here to, We rode up the old railway lines which in some places are sheltered by trees and embankments but the open stretches were terrible, cross winds were the worst. 38 hard miles at 9mph. One bank pushed up several pedalled down. Hard work but in some weird way enjoyable.

Wimps Strava
Cycleruk took the top spot on all sections again this week totally unassailable.
Softlips made second place on all three sections
Oldmanonabike brought up the rear on all the sections.
The weather has a lot to answer for.

"Totally unassailable" - I like the sound of that. . Probably at the bottom this week, maybe not even on the chart.

Back from my warm weather training in Majorca getting ready for next years Wimps ride.
516 miles over 12 days so a bit to go for End to End. (actually did a few more miles but made a b#L#X with the Garmin on one of the rides  )
Longest day was 70 miles with 3,500 Ft of climbing. Most days though set off about 10.am and back in the bar for 4.pm. :D
Maybe might be able to get out there again early next year for some more training.

Hi,
Nickeveson wrote:That was an expensive Sunday! New tent(Vango Soul 100....1.73kg), new sleeping bag (OEX Roam 100...950g) and sleeping mat (Vango Trek 3 standard....940kg) purchased......all from Go Outdoors and total weight of only 3.6 kg.....not too bad. LeJog is coming together for me

Strongly suggest.........very strongly suggest you either take tent back of buy some alu poles.
Most abandoned damaged tents are because the poles broke.
I know alu can break but not the second time you put them up :!:
I have two one man tents already along with a large stable of tents and looked at that shape a number of times, Ideal stealth shape :)

Helix 100 starts at £ 70 on ebay and you can also get helix 200 for £69.99 :)
Poles on ebay will be under £ 20 IIRC.

I have the Vango Blade 100, which has alloy poles. A really good tent and slightly lighter than the Soul.
Vango is a good brand but I second the concern over pole breakage. If nothing else, source a section of ally tubing to fit over the top just in case of damage.

Softlips was working from home last week for once and hoped to do more miles than Cycleruk, alas I did not realise he was running a taxi rickshaw abroad somewhere :D

I am considering one of the "through-up" tents.
As the tent has to be erected and dissembled each day then I need the process to be as easy as possible.
The weather should be reasonable as it is supposed to be summer so a lightweight contraption should do.
