Just been looking at the route at this end.
You have 50miles to ride on Sunday 24th, and I'll have 66miles. :D

Meet you at the junction of the Egloskerry road and the A395. We'll swap mobile numbers, and if someone could text me before you all leave, or say when you will do, I should be able to time it ok.

It's 25miles from here to the junction onto the A395, and 25miles for you too, so your half-way point for the day.

Hi,
It will be 123 miles and 10750 ' to hook up, week later I have to go to lydford on the silly sportive 107M (+100'/M). plus 16M = 123M.
If I cant do the old wimps then no point in starting the sportive :)

Yes we had water pistols but they were awkward to fill through the little hole in the back.
Bike pumps allowed you to pump more water and could give someone a good soaking.
Was all or nothing though. :D

Well we are now into the final days of preparation for the off come Saturday.
18 months since the "Wimps" idea was first muted by Hughwill and made possible by Landsurfer.
Comings and goings behind the scenes and input over the Forum, have brought the idea to fruition.

Everyone posted rides on Strava last week, getting in some final training.
The routes have been gone through and even at this last moment modifications/corrections, thanks to Paulatic's input, have been edited. (You can't beat a bit of local knowledge.)

Friday evening should see the complete Group assemble and meet up to put faces to names for the first time.
Some of us have met some of us before so it won't be a complete shock.

Now someone will have to make a decision on what time for the photo-shoot and roll out at LE to commence our adventure north to the wilds of Scotland.
You'll never know if you don't try it.

Scottish inclines are good. Welsh hills are bad. Mind you I’ve never been above Inverness before I’ve read there might be a hill further on. :)

Wales?
Many are the End2Enders who have strayed over the border using the Wye Valley and the Severn Bridge.

Done it LEJOG and BACK that way, but previously I'd done a JOGLE via Gloucestershire.
Been Up North a few times over the years since then, and never strayed over the Severn Bridge and used the Wye Valley.
Mind you, my sister lives just inside N Wales, so I do stray over the border up there. Last cycled there in 2014.

Not as many as there used to be.
Road planners seem to smooth them out.

Berridale is up for re-doing again, and when I first did a JOGLE, Dunbeath was difficult, but they sorted that out in the late 1990s. Berridale was terrible, now it's just difficult, and soon it may just be hard.

North of Helmsdale, you had to climb over Navidale. You still have to do it, but if you look for the old road, you'll see how it used to weave in and out of the valleys and hillsides. Now, it just climbs smoothly and consistently.

If you know where to look at the bottom of Berridale, you can see the old bridge below, and see how steep the road used to be.
Also you can see the old Dunbeth road zig zagging over by the coast.

No road is that steep that i can't walk up it pushing a bicycle Mick ...

All pick ups, drop offs, bus driver changes arranged.
All sorted ... until the next "Houston we have a problem" arises ... which it will ... and get sorted again.
Julie, Riley and i are setting off in our ancient camper van overnight tonight.

And breathe ............... :|
“Quiet, calm deliberation disentangles every knot.”
Be more Mike.
The road goes on forever.
