It was closer than I thought. Steve only beat me by 250 miles and 5,000 feet.... :lol: :lol: :lol:

It was a lovely ride. Scenery was fantastic. The climbs might have been a bit easier if I wasn’t lugging 12kg of kit.

It might be a problem trying to find a Wimps route around it though!

Rather you than me but that’s one hell of an achievement. I’m at SSUK. I came top 10 overall and 1st in the over 60’s category...very chuffed

Great result. Those 900ish miles of training obviously helped. But the important question is....Did you wake up with a hangover?

Hi,
Trouble is that some off road tracks and bridle paths are slower than walking?

It still niggles me that my second failed attempt at The Westcountry Way (off road mtb, not easy longer better known by same name route), I abandoned Dartmoor in the dark even though I know the terrain well.
Its only the gates on paths that stop me going again straight after last attempt.

The Exmoor stint was 35 miles with moving speed of 5mph, a lot of walking pushing up stupid hills, and took me all in 9 hrs to complete that bit:?
