Back in 2007, I was in support of the Race Against Time, and they rode LEJOG in five days.
We in support, had an in-depth meeting and learned the route they were taking. I had a good appreciation of the route to start with, but it was specified which route and which junctions etc etc etc.
The riders had had an in-depth meeting too.

Do these Record Breakers have "the knowledge" about the route like our riders did, or do they have a communication device to keep them on track?
Or just a TCX on a Garmin?

Good question.

I was dot-watching as he came out of Gloucester and, deliberately or otherwise, IT & the support vehicle went different ways with IT ending up behind the support as they headed north of the A40 on the A38 - IT had swung left up to the A40 & turned right to get to the A38, the support had gone right (I wondered at the time if they were going shopping as they appeared to be heading towards Tesco but the dot didn't stop) & straight across the A40.

MB said he had a number of Garmin units (that they rotated because the charge doesn't last long enough). My guess is that he would have had a route programmed into each one, why wouldn't you?

I think that most riders will know at least some sections of the route from other time trials, although as you yourself have said before when you are cracking along these big A-Road routes for a lot of the time navigating can't be that difficult

Worcester at 17:15 = 12 hours in. The MB record and the schedule was to/did reach it after 11:30 of cycling.

The bight green curve - IT's current attempt has been impressively stright - implying consistency - until a worrying levelling off. Hopefully, a scheduled brak or similar.

Had a 'pit stop' at 17:15. At 18:40 I see he’s stopped again by Quatt farm shop.
I noticed him down 9kph on a hill a short while ago.

Telford 19:40 vs 18:30

but Twitter says:

14 hours in: 582 miles to go.
15 minutes behind schedule.
Rain backing off now.

He's approaching another bit I know.
I bet he goes the long way round A53/A41 ....................... instead of through Hodnet to A5065 and A41.
