He's obviously too busy cycling to be posting his progress...

Yes, that's what I assumed. I hope we get a bit of a write-up when he's finished.

Do people think this record LEJOGLE or the other way could be broken unsupported these days? To me it seems too competitive now.

I know Sean Conway did ride across Europe record this year unsupported but I think that was a much less competitive record.

A couple of tweets from Kristof

He did lejog in 67 h 15m

and was back to lands end by 5pm today so around 72 hours coming back.

No record but I doubt many have gone faster unsupported.

Andy Wilkinson did LEJOG in 41 hours (4 mins and 22 secs) in a faired Speedy tricycle (Windcheetah). I do not know if he was supported on his trip. This is an amazing time.

Meh, the record for a real pedal cycle, not one with a fairing is 43:25:13 by Michael Broadwith in June this year.
The greatest effort for me is Eileen Sheridan's 59hrs 17mins doing 870 miles (not the 840 they do now) in 1954, ranks as one of the most incredible distance rides.

Done on a 4 speed bike, necessitating walking up some of the toughest hills. Incredible effort.

800-1000ml but neither are maximal/minimal numbers.

But its not twice that as wilco consumed in less than 48 hrs faired in, well you would drink if protected from cooling, fool not too.
Show me where consuming that much does not cause problems' with body salts :?:
Really I would like to know for my own benefit.
Very possible this is countered (normally countered by eating food with minerals etc) by a magic tablet?
Remember that those territorials on manouvers died from over consumption of water.................................

You put 7-800ml per hour then a question mark, that says to me you are asking the question is that correct/you weren't sure. I replied back giving a normal/common range that is widely accepted (by those in the know) for absorption, it's obviously not a max or min as people are all different and circumstances in terms of weather also effect that.
I have no opinion on what you're talking about, I haven't even read it, as I said, my response was to answer your question using data from a reliable source particularly since the upper range number differs from yours by 20+%.

Hi,
There is a difference in what can be consumed and what is absorbed, its roughly IIRC 7-800 ml / hour max absorbed.
Wilco consumed 88 litres but only half of that for sure would of been absorbed by the body in the limited time he was cycling
I wonder why he consumed nearly well twice what can be absorbed?
If you have ever been dehydrated clinically they put a drip in or in the field a hose up :)
At this point oral hydration won't save you.
Drinking too much can kill you with some other conditions thrown in, washing out body salts, vital for normal function.
Its been suggested on posts in the past that 1000ml should be consumed as a safety net.
In the past I have consumed 14 litres in one day, normally 1 bottle an hour is what I do.
Its of course dependant on weather and amount of exercise.

My question is why would wilco consume so much :?:
