Absolutely wonderful, the gains she made early on proved crucial in beating what was in reality an extremely tough record by a considerable margin. Thereafter she maintained her pace and it never seriously looked in doubt.

Whenever a record like this is broken, one of the questions is about when/if it will be broken. We know that Michael Broadwith's (the maths teacher) record could be improved because of the time he lost with his neck problem. The fact of being able to ride faster means that the men are so much less affected than the women by a second night. That must be the real killer.

Anyway hats (chapeaux) off to these ambassadors of the sport. Magnificent achievements!

I'd assumed Christina Murray would have another go after her attempt earlier in the year; I suppose the question is with nearly 100 min being put into the old record, whether she thinks she can beat it?

Edit: final graph from Mr Broadwith:

I see it's made it onto the BBC including a clip of a very low key finish

Wow! Absolutely incredible, even more so when you consider the previous record was good enough to stand for so long.

Gina completed the ride finishing on 23rd June taking 28 days. Getting the record is, I believe, under discussion as on a couple of occasions Garmin let her down and failed to record a couple of sections. Shen ended up carrying 3 Garmins for just in case. https://le-jog.co.uk/2022/06/26/actual- ... distances/
I attempted to meet up with her on the road as she came by me. Failing to see her bike outside Lockerbie Lorry Park on her 2nd breakfast I failed. :D
