My current plan - it does change from day to day - is to ride at the beginning of September to get out of the peak school holiday season. Originally I was going to do it at the the beginning of June but I've been faffing around like a sail boat without a rudder because I thought I might want to do a 1200K instead out of Lytham, but then I realised that may not be sensible - 200 miles a day for 4 days in a row  - so now I'm back to LeJog - I think.

Anyway, If I can crave your indulgence again, if you have taken the esteemed Mick's route and converted it into an excel cue sheet, would you mind PM'ing it to me please? I should already have his GPS route somewhere, but I think I've lost it. :(

As for riding, 125 miles a day is okay for me and i'm going to be riding with hope of finding a resting place each night with no prior warning of my arrivals. I will - maybe - carry a tent. :D

I haven't but that's a good idea I will do so nearer the date. I like to use villages as waypoints and snack points!!

125 should be fine for me I've done 100 hilly miles consecutively so 125 flat miles should be a problem and the worse hills are in day one and two.

I've just looked up the daylight times for 4 June and 4 September;

4 June sunrise 4.47 sunset 21.10 = 16.23 hours daylight

4 September sunrise 6.17 sunset 19.40 = 13.23 hours daylight

Clearly it is better to ride in June than in September

Been looking at tickets today the price has reduced slightly from the default pre 12 week price question is are they going to fall further?

If so I am at risk if not getting a bike space.

Also the Cornish Rivera train isn't listed can I book this a a train station?

I rode 125 miles yesterday - the fourth for me this year - with temperature in the high 80's and stiff winds around18 MPH and I was shagged at the end of it and really questioned wanting to do it all again today and then 8 days in a row. Maybe 125 miles a day is too ambitious recognising I have to source food and accommodation each day.

Headwinds? Yeap a hard 125miles leaves you knackered! But the next day I've got on the bike and done an equally hard 100 miles.
Where did you ride?
Booking tickets!!
Best way is to use the whole day and take it steady having good length breaks.

It does appear that June heralds the beginning of the high tourist season down to the 'Riviera". Maybe September when the schools go back may be the best after all. In June I suspect tourist facilities - accommodation particularly - not to mention roads - will be at a premium.

I ride in the Texas Gulf Coast region. Very hot, very humid but we still use the imperial systems of measurements and temperatures - none of this metric and Celsius nonsense, it's feet and inches and Fahrenheit for us. :P

I've started to route this on RWGPS based on the list, will post when done for scrutiny by the experts and will incorporate suggested modifications.

Cut out Hawick and substitute it with Eskdalemuir I reckon you might save something like 10 mls and gain a lot of scenery.

Yes you can come off at Langholm ( or Lockerbie) >Eskdalemuir >Gordon Arms>Innerleithen >Peebles.
Try routing it :D I’d be very surprised if it isn’t shorter but I’d guarantee it’s a lot more scenic.

Just reading your marvelous lejog journal Paul :D

You went via Abington rather than the route suggested above?
Any reason why?
