I often wonder about this incessant need to extol the particular exploits of the: 'oldest, youngest, fattist, thinnest', etc. on almost every endeavour these days.

+1
It's not so much about the GBR record, more about Mavis's circumstances

Somebody amend the title please, it's making my teeth itch! :?

Heck of a backstory there - losing all of your children to cancer in their 40s, along with others. Top work Mavis.

I often wonder about the tendency to post about such wonderings

Well it was about cycling so I thought I might post it as no one else had, I even got that wrong.
In all honesty I normally scorn at youngest oldest type of stuff.
But I thought it was harmless to post anyway.
Also I did not read the full story, If nothing else it shows you're never too old to have a go.

Oldest End-to-End Female Cyclist?

Mavis Mashes LeJog?

Mavis beats rain, plague, pestilence, cynicism, & naysayers to ride a very long way and make lots of money for charity?

Mavis raises over 50K for charity and becomes to oldest E2E female cyclist in the process?

Some of these might be less than serious :D

OK then, it's going to be 'cat amongst the pigeons time', folks:

Confirmed age of the oldest MALE cyclist to ride an E to E? No cheating by taking three years, no electric bikes, no support vehicles, no nothing; just an old bloke on a bike, who rode it for fun.

To get you all started, I know of a 79-yr old who took a month to complete the ride (and no, it's not me). What a cheek, I'm but a baby by comparison.

regards to all,
