NCN7 over Drumochter

Post by Enigmadick »

Some fine resurfacing along various bits between Bruar and Dalwhinnie including lots on the descent northwards. Somewhat spoilt by bollards in the centre of the path at either end of the many footbridges across the burns.

However they may have a purpose like keeping vehicles off weak bridges.

The southern section below the county boundary is shortly to be resurfaced soon too.
It’s going to be a great bit of the network and traffic free.
The bridge bollards are a necessary evil and prevent estate ATVs from using and wrecking the bike track surface which has happened in the past. I think they might have been better thought through but at least they are below handlebar height.
It’s been a while coming but v welcome.

Excellent - it is a wonderful ride and I really enjoyed the wild flowers at 1500ft above sea level with my partner who is an avid botanist. So beautiful.

V good to hear, I’m a local Sustrans volunteer and we have put a lot of work into this section over many years. It had deteriorated a lot in recent years but it’s a characterful ride even in bad weather.

Brilliant! :D

Why anyone wants to go up/down the A82 is beyond me.

Excellent? Looks a bit narrow to me, hope not many cyclists use it, for one surely needs to go very slow when passing

This is me in 2006 on my double End2End, looking rather absorbed waiting for the camera to auto-shoot.

Yep, route now changed - Glasgow B&B cancelled, east side alternatives booked into the Cairngorms. Haven’t been through Aviemore since my car rallying days in 1976.
