Starting LeJog wimps route this Sept...

Post by matata »

Intended doing the above via Air BNB over the next 14 days, booking 2 days ahead. Whats your learned opinion of the chanced of Corona wrecking our trip ? I know that sounds a bit vague but I'm trying to get the feel for it...Ta as ever Nik

I'd guess that you'd be OK for accommodation outside a few areas.

Do you need connections on public transport?

And have you got an outline plan for what you'd do if you became unwell?

Parts of Lancashire are currently a virus hot spot especially around the Bolton area. Our route went west of that area so not really a problem, but I would try not to book around there. Keep to social distancing and use a mask if going into shops.
I presume you are altering the route to suit your own overnight stops as ours were campsites.
Interested in how you get on, keep us up to date and have a safe ride.

I'd go asap!
Also avoid as many cities as possible.
Keep to the rural areas and stop outside of town / villages.
Your farm gate is your picnic bench!

Well I would certainly book more than two days ahead - in the north of Scotland it was hard to find places booking nearly a month ahead.
Also don’t forget Premier Hotels and Travelodge - can often be cheaper than Airbnb.

Hi,
I am one of the Wimps and I have written a book outlining our journey. It gives routes, cafes and our story. If you would like a copy get in touch asap and I can post one to you. It costs a fiver, all profits to Bloodwise

Be careful coming down from Schlodt summit, the path is good but one bridge may catch you out, a quick left bend!

You are right, it was Drummochter! As I mentioned on the ride, I will follow you.....you seem to know where we are with that Lezyne.
The Garmin boys lost out, so on your advice a Lezyne now sits on my bars

It was proper scary coming down from Schlodt this morning in wind and rain - got whacked by vicious side winds near the bottom. Thought I was a goner for a moment. Mad pedal over bridge and into Tomatin - where there’s a fantastic cafe and community shop in the modern building complex
Just warming up with a ‘full Scottish’
