Someone called Daniel
Someone called Daniel
Went through the village (in a car being given a lift) at 11ish this morning, and a cyclist in a white T shirt was here photographing the village with his tablet.

T shirt said Daniel and doing Land's End to John o'Groats 2nd July to 15th July. Today is the 3rd, so he left LE yesterday. LE to here is 90miles.
I couldn't chat, but if I had, I would have done.
He shouldn't have been coming down the A390 towards Tavistock, because he's making much too hard work about it.
Too late to tell him of course.
Anyone know of Daniel?
Is he on here using a Username?

Re: Someone called Daniel
Good point, I'd not thought about that.
Was in Daughter2's car with me and Doggie being given a lift up the hill so she could drop us off for walkies.
Saw "Daniel" with his bike and panniers, and Daughter2 asked if I knew him from "The Forum", so here I am, asking ...... as the name didn't ring a bell with me.
Any ideas? ................Anyone?

Re: Someone called Daniel
I hope he didn't get caught up in the thunderstorms and torrential downpours which were tracking there way up the A38 through East Devon and Somerset this afternoon.
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840

Grief!
Thunderstorms?
Dry all day here, but perhaps drizzled a bit early afternoon, but dry before and since.
Washed the car, and walked the dog, and had a beer (or three) outside.
No sign of torrential rain of thunderstorms.

Re: Someone called Daniel
I'm puzzled why you think 'Daniel' shouldn't have been going along the A390 towards Tavistock. It may not be the easiest route but it's more interesting than the A30 (or old A30). Tavistock, then over Dartmoor to Exeter, is the route I did in 1983.
p.s. I cycled through your village again on Friday this week. Had lunch at 'The Koffi Lodge'. I wasn't doing LeJog though.

Koffie Lodge eh?
Commercial Street Gunnislake.
Sarah, the lady who runs it, is wonderful.
As for the "route", the main issue is that to get to Gunny by bike from the west, you have to either come along the A390 from Liskeard or down from the north. Possible to come up from the south, but that means one heck of a route from the coast.
Whatever route you've taken, it's hilly and hard work.
From Gunny, the only way out is towards Tavistock.
Up out of the valley to Gullworthy, then down to Lumburn, then up to Tavy.
From there, where?
Up the A386 to Okehampton, or up the Granite Way to Okehampton.
Or ......... over Dartmoor to Moretonhamptead and Exeter.
Said it before, and I'll say it again ........
LE, Penzance, Camborne, Redruth, Blackwater, Wadebridge, Camelford, Hallworthy, Egloskerry, St Stephens, Polson Bridge (over into England) Old A30 via Lifton and Bridestowe, Sourton, Okehampton, Bow, Copplestone, Crediton, Rob's Passage, Tiverton, Taunton, Wellington, Bridgwater ...................................
