Hi,
Really need some advice, I have decided to cycle from John O Groats to Lands End for charity in Spetember and have serious head aches trying to plan my route. Im new to cycling andd have only recently started taking this seriously, Bought my self a Giant Defy 2 and im currently out every 2 days doind 20-30 miles and then 50 on a saturday (only been training for 2 months so pretty good i think)
All the routes i come across goes west coast o Scotland but i was hoping to stay more east coast (I live in pitlochry and thought it would be good to get a free nights stay in Pitlochry and Edinburgh with family)
Please help with routes guys/girls

Hi, my advice is to buy a SatNav (I have a Bryton Rider 50) and plan your route via Google Maps.
I have spent ages tweaking my route, avoiding A roads at all costs, and am doing LeJog in 12 days in July 2013.

Good Luck!

Hi Mr Trombone...
I finished my Lejog this time last week and went the East coast route. A9 all the way up, nipping onto the old A9 in places to break it up. Loads of room and space from passing traffic on the hard shoulder and I felt really safe.
Below is my route fron Edinburgh up, although I tweeked a little en route and stopped at Helmsdale on the last night to give me a gentle ride upto JOG on the last day. FYI, the b&b I stayed at is the Customs House B&B. Run by Annie Macdonld and not a nicer lady will you meet. You wont need a lunch after her breakfast either. All this for just £20 per night
Roads are really really good at the moment, tarmac is excellent bar the last 15 miles from Wick to JOG. Broken chipping surface pretty much all the way and felt like I was doing the Paris Roubaix!
