How many times has anyone done the E2E. No fibbing.

Postby ukdodger » 23 Jan 2014, 10:54pm

It's a strangely addictive ride. I've done it three times and know I'll do it again. I've heard of a bloke who's done it fifty times. I wonder what the record is.

Have a look at www.cycle-endtoend.org.uk ... in the Roll of Honour there are quite a few 2s (me included) and some >3 in the listings.

Though I'm sure it's not the most I read on a website for supported E2E holidays that the leader had done 7 LEJOGs and a JOGLE. And that was promoting 2013 holidays so I guess he has another one now. In fact does CTC do E2E holidays? If it does your record holder might be right there!

JOGLE in 1994
LEJOG and Back in 2006
JOGLE on a Raleigh Chopper in 2010

Four times.

If I do it again, I'll do the Double again.
It's easier because you don't have to worry about transport. Cycle away from home to One End, turn round and cycle to the Other End, then cycle home. Three or four weeks should do it.

I've only done it once so far, in 2011.

But plans are afoot to do another end to end - next year hopefully - incorporating a visit to the Lizard, Lowestoft, Ardnamurchan and Dunnet Head :D

Yes. I did it both ways twice except that on one the damn hubgear broke near Howarth and the other I fell off just south of Stirling. But last year I suceeded. As you say both ways, if you have the time, is much better. I'll definitely do it again. Probably with the CTC going up because new company is fun and come back alone via a different route this time.

I had a fairly hard saddle for part of the way until I ditched it for a softer one. How you survived on that chopper is beyond me. :(

The roll of honour is interesting. It doesnt appear to take account of time though and to be honest anyone can do it if they take their time. I'm in my seventies now and I really want the record of being the oldest bloke to do it both ways.

One LEJoG
One JoGLE

I want to do the double even if it is from home to home incorporated.

... I've just made a couple of changes to the site - over on the left in the Riders menu now has a ALL the rides .. NEW link - that lists just that from April 2009 (and 1 ride before that) for all the rides that have appeared in the calendar

It shows dates, durations, direction and, where supplied, riders' notes

I've done "Home -> LE -> JoG -> Home" twice now.
Both times I wandered around a lot, so both times where +4,000 miles Home to Home.

... my plan (domestic negotiations are yet to commence) is that in 2015 - but JOG - LE in the middle.

Jesus - that's a lot of 'wandering about'. I have just played with a route finder to find that Bangor (Wales) - LE - JOG - and back to Bangor via Lowestoft is about 2,800 miles, where did you go? I did JOGLE via Dunnet Head and Lizard Point and avoided all A-roads where I could and was surprised that this still 'only' came to 1,029 miles.

Done LEJOG twice.

Also did South to East to West to North mainland compass points.
There is your way. There is my way. But there is no "the way".
