JogLe - oldest man to do LeJog is back doing it the other wa

Post by Skipper9999 »

Yes you may have read last years report about Tony Rathbone aged 81 doing LeJog last year with myself and a camper van . Last years ride was well documented at www.lejog.us
Well he's at it again and this time by himself and planning on 11 days.

I caught up him tonight ( 11 June 15 ) at Abington , 4days in and 324 miles and tomorrow he will finish the day in Shap and then Warrington , Bridgenorth , Bristol , Exeter , Boddmington and finally Lands End .

Very hot and the wind not right , but he just keeps going .

Good on him, his blog gave me the final push to do the ride myself.

Update.

Tony made it to Shap on Friday at 7pm taking his total to 408 mile , Saturday was a day off , Sunday and an early start and onward to Wigan (not Warrington as I previously posted) Alone again.

He plans on finishing on Friday so 11 riding days in total.

He admitted his mistake in not taking on sufficient water in such heat , let us all learn?

Friday after leaving Abington with Tony was surprised when Paul caught up with us north of Moffat after treading the post.

Tony would also like to thank the wonderful service he received in Palace Cycles in Carlisle who sorted his gear indexing without a wait, thumbs up to them.

I was just thinking - this is a record that just has to be broken!

A quick search this morning and I’ve found his blog https://peterlangford85ride.bike He has registered his ride with Guinness records so hat's off to him. I rode with Tony and hope to ride with Peter if he comes through my patch.
