The Draisin has been returned after we had the use of it for a few weeks.

It's a typical German piece of engineering, beautifully made, but a wee bit pricey for us.

It was very good on rough surfaces and awkward cambers, but one or two features made it more difficult to ride. The backpedal brake is a feature common on continental bikes, but it takes a bit of getting used to. MBH couldn't get used to it and unlike a bike, couldn't turn the pedal forward to the desired position while stationary as can be done on a bicycle by lifting the rear wheel . Also, the sensor on the crank was linked to the motor, so she couldn't coast along freewheeling while the power was on, she had to be constantly rotating the cranks without putting any pressure on them and this was an annoying feature.

The other niggle was the power throttle. The handlebar grip had to be rotated AWAY from the rider, not towards the rider as on a motorcycle and it was quite a big arc of rotation for the full range to be applied, meaning it almost needed to be released and regripped further round otherwise the hand was arched at the wrist , forward of the handlebar.

Otherwise it was a beautiful pics of kit and our opinion is only how we found it and other users might not agree.
