Sourcing good laid back appropriate wear is never easy in the UK. For spring temperatures I can recommend https://uk.gymshark.com/collections/t-s ... al-crimson
Stretchy/aero 9% Elastane
No rear pockets
Thumb holes, great for superman bars (actually not shown on the site, but mine came with them)
Red rear panel stands out above seat back, without being HI-VIZ
Breathable- but not very wind, let alone rain, resistant. Just for spring temperatures.
Quarter zip & long body length.
£26 Pretty inexpensive (certainly compared to shipping any US imports of specific gear)
Sporty spring top
Re: Sporty spring top
What is the material like? Is it the sort of micro fleece feel that you get with some shirts, or is it more plain material?
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

Re: Sporty spring top
I'd describe the material as thin and stretchy, bear in mind it is intended for use in a gym - it's main plus point being breathability.
It should work well enough as over or under layering. Right now I'd start with a wind blocking mesh back gilet over it, which would go in the tail bag after a few miles, and back on in the case of showers.
For a somewhat thicker top, I use paragliding speedarms, like http://flybubble.com/niviuk-speedarm . These are actually made by 'an Italian cycle clothing manufacturer', but they are twice the price - though not expensive by roadie standards.

To me that's good. I have the fleece 'feel' shirts already - but the weather is just a *little* warm for them at the moment.

Re: Sporty spring top
For anyone not terrified of appearing soooo last year, these are now avaialbe for a mere £18 https://uk.gymshark.com/collections/out ... al-crimson Might get a second. I find that with a low seat angle I feel the ariflow in a similar way to being in an open top car i.e. around the neck and shoulders. Consequently I like the high neck, and often wear a roll neck scarf too. However I've been thinking that my ideal bent top would have wind proof front shoulder patches, as well as a mesh back. And possibly the zip should open from the bottom..... Can't see Altura making one like that any time soon
