Front jersey pockets

Cycling jerseys or top layers of all shapes and sizes generally have a rear pocket or pockets.

What does a bent rider do? Is this where a bum bag becomes a tum bag or have any manufacturers come up with a garment to satisfy the need for front pockets?

Cheers

When I was a lad, racing jerseys did have chest pockets. I think there's somebody on here with a Ron Kitching Everything Cycling catalogue from that era and I'm pretty sure RK used to advertise jerseys with front pockets only, but I cannot imagine why, because I don't think there were many recumbents in those days.

One could wear a small backpack on the front
And/or my favourite garment, a Newlyn fishermans smock with front pockets, not sure if that would be good while lying, things might fall out. One could fit zips to the pockets

I've tried a "tum" bag but it wasn't particularly comfortable. I've now settled on a Monkii Mono mounted on the boom. Works on both the ICE Sprint and on my wife's Kettwiesel. And it's easy to reach forward to get my work site entry badge, garage remote, 'phone, etc., without stopping. It unclips easily and can be taken with you as a clutch bag.

I have a gillet and jacket designed for running both of which have suitable pockets with zip closure. I also wear tight fitting cargo pants from North Face with secure pockets which are readily accessible on the trike.

Even on my upwrongs I've never really been a great fan of rear pockets on coats. Being a trundly touroid type I have plenty of luggage on the bike for spare tubes and snacks, and for valuables they're just an excuse to be pickpocketed more easily.

Generally best to look at more general outdoorsy stuff, quite a large amount is available with a couple of relatively high A-line pockets and these work well IME on the 'bent. Climo has pointed out the Velez smock which has an excellent kangaroo pocket, as do Buffalo shirts (avaialble unlined, with a light lining, a hot lining and a melt-in-the-middle lining). eBay will often turn up Rohan smocks with kangaroo pockets at excellent prices, and they're comfy and functional too.

Pete.

If you just want pockets on the front try Googling fishermans, reporters or photographers vests. All have more than enough pockets and tend just to have a lightweight back.

I've nothing more to add to what's been said.
But, it's really good to see that other people think in terms of "cross over" usage, as I do. Many an activity can inform another, as long as one is happy to step outside convention.

With the snow lying deep and crisp etc., I've just received this year's Rohan Spring/Summer catalogue and I see a new offering is the Hideout Jacket which has a broad front pocket
