Lights on a Trike

Hi All

just wondered what sort of lights that everyone uses on their trike re the fitment etc

pictures would be good so i can have a gander

I have a standard B&M headlight, what looks like a fork mount is attached using the bolt on the derailleur post.
I also have a torch cable tied under.

At the rear I have a B&M toplight and a flasher on the shoulder of the seat..

Nothing special, most modern LED Lights are light (i.e. not heavy) and are adequate to be seen by. I recommend at least 2 rear ones. IME I've had a high death rate of batteries and lights. In fact one came off last night, and as usual a car ran over it before I could get back to it. Lights also have a tendency to slip and point in the wrong direction. So it's worth doubling up just in case. I have 2 front ones as well, but often run with only one on.

Fairings are different, but on a "naked" trike....

1. A Minoura Space Grip at the top of the derailleur post holds an USE Enduro Maxx and a Joystick as a backup. THe "legal lighting is a small Cateye LED on the lower part of the post.

On the rear I have a central Radbot 1000 and two Dinotte lights on the rack, with a "legal" Cateye

these are mine i have 2 on the rear i made these myself i also have a rear light on a flagpole. front light is a headtorch

all 12v led, rear 2x 30cm strip normally used in car brake light, front 2x 30 led running/ fog lights the battery s are a 1.2ahr sealed lead acid for short rides or i can use a 2.3ahr for longer rides. i can turn one of the front lights off when in town when they are all on the draw 3.5watts

with the bigger batter connectors ect about £17 max.

I've been wondering how to fit lights to my Streamer-equipped Trice QNT. Mounting them inside the fairing seems simply to light up the inside... I did wonder about mounting on the outside of the fairing (mine is reinforced with bolts at the end of the support bows) but this would only allow for very small battery lights. I see that you have mounted your lights on the cruciform to shine under the fairing, Mark, but there still seems to be a fair bit of back scatter from the fairing and at that very low level I'd be worried about visibility and adequate illumination of the road ahead. I live in a rural area so being able to see is as important as being seen.

I placed a third bolt through the centre of the fairing upper support and attached the end of a Spacegrip, enables use of most lights

The larger FibreFlare uses two AAA batteries which are useable with most chargers

The mini FibreFlare uses the CR123 batteries which require a specific charger, and additional expense
