Many thanks, Byegad.

You mention in one of your posts that you substituted the front attachement with the back attachment and this gave your feet improved protection from the elements. When I take delivery of my Streamer I hope you won't mind if I seek your advice, should I encounter any fitting problems.

I've attached mine slightly differently to what's shown.

The front attachment is the same.
I've a short piece of handle bar grip zip tied in place on the front tube to mark the length needed.
That way when I replace the fairing, I can just push the tube into the attchment and it stops at the right length.

For the back attachment I've used a piece of alumium tube to extend the derailier boom up and back.
Then I use 2x 4" metal plates to fit the gap between the extended boom and the fairing.
The plates stay bolted the the fairing and I just bolt/unbolt then from the boom to replace/remove the fairing.
This gives me more room to swing my legs around to get on and off.

Also the extended boom give me a nice high point to attach a light to for night riding.

You'll also find that every fairing is attached slight differently, justlike no two trike are ever identical ........ :D

A number of Streamer users have mentioned water being swept back onto them when the trike hits a bump. I don;t get that, I suspect, because the curve of the back of the fairing is more rounded, so less chance of standing drops gathering on the central part of the fairing.

That an good idea.
I've an spare lower cross piece from an old broken streamer fairing.
I may try and swop it onto my my fairing in place of the top cross piece and see if it makes a difference.

It not so much your body getting wet, its more you get a facefull of water when you hit the bump ...... :(

Depends on how you fit a fairing.....

They all have a a "bow" shape. and if the upper edge dips down then water will flow on to the rider.

If you get the fitting right then this is less likely

I think for £380 i would rather get wet feet and rain in the face

that happens when i ride my DF's so why not on a trike

just my two penneth

I think that depends on how you treat your trike/bike

I treat mine as my primary vehicle - my wife has a car for the rare occasions I need one.

At that point spending £400 on a "roof" doesn't seem so excessive, or £350 on a lighing power source (SON dynamo)

They're a lot cheaper second-hand: I spent £130 on mine and perhaps £20 on the parts to fit it to the trike. I was doubtful about whether it would make a noticeable difference and had reservations about paying out the full price. Mine has some scratches, but you don't look through the fairing so optical clarity isn't important, and in any case it didn't take me long to add one or two myself!

Worth speaking to Kevin at Dtek, but he did suggest that they are harder to get a hold of in the winter because of the protection from cold and rain.

I paid £120 for the first one 2 years ago.
And £75 for the second last year.
Both where got from Kevin at D-Tec.
The first was got with all the fixing and the second without as I already had them.
Both had a few scratches in and I soon added more.

The difference between riding through a Thunder storm with a Streamer and one without is similar to riding a DF through a shower and a thunder storm.

I'll be keeping mine!

Ben at Kinetics is a one man band and can be hard to reach. I've ordered from London Recumbents, give them a call and you should get an accurate estimate fo delivery times.

Byegad, Thanks for your suggestions, but London Recumbents was one of the suppliers I contacted. I told them about the price given by Bikefix and was expecting them to reply, but as I've recieved no reply, I've just this moment asked them for inclusive price to deliver to my address and firm delivery date.
As Bikefix had already quoted me, " About £380 ", I asked them for an inclusive price and delivery date - result - silence.
I've even put a posting in the "Wanted" section of this forum, but understandably (as Streamers are so effective) I've had no offers of a seconhand fairing.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I might be able to have a Streamer fixed before Christmas!
