Mercian decal

Postby Tcc » 6 Jul 2019, 5:15pm

Wonder if anyone can help. I have a 1975 King of Mercia, bought from another CTC member a few years ago. It’s a lovely old bike which I have returned to gears from single speed. The bike has quite an old paint job and what I think are incorrect 1950s downtube decals. Although they should be the later ones I feel they are part of the bikes character - unfortunately one has half peeled off so I’m looking for a replacement.
Thanks

£50 a set from Mercians unless you have the frame resprayed by them.
If you send them photos of the frame and its number, they should sell you a set.
Or have you looked on e bay?

I have got them from Mercian in the past, but I had to prove that I had the bike, by quoting the frame number and describing the frame. They will check it in their records.

That seems reasonable - wouldn't be good if the decals just got slapped on any old frame to increase its sales potential!

There seems to be quite a few people out there happy to slap head badges and transfer on to frames and advertise them as Gillotts. Doesnt help when people sell the head badges on Ebay
