Sorted: Secondhand tandem rack for car roof

Postby Bridget747 » 30 Jan 2019, 8:46pm

Have you got a tandem roof rack, compatible with square roof bars you no longer need? If you have one that you’re interested in selling and live not too far away (subjective I know), I’d appreciate it if you could get in contact.

Thanks

Couple of ideas. I've carried a tandem on the roof using a ladder. Rear wheel located between 2 rungs and secured with toe straps. The front wheel removed and a scrap front hub used to secure the front forks. The hub was secured to a beam secured to the ladder. I used a step to get it up onto the ladder which I had secured to the roof bars first. When I found it increasingly difficult to lift it up onto the roof I used a rear bike mount strapped to the rear hatch door and window. It did hang out both sides at the back so no hedge skimming.
At the last count:- Focus Variado, Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, 2 Dawes Kingpins, Raleigh 20, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, On One Pompino, Longstaff trike conversion on a Falcon corsa. :D
