Postby Salade_Lyonnaise » 24 Aug 2019, 11:32pm

Hello,

Looking for a Raleigh Royal or Randonneur frame/bike. Must have approx 60mm BB drop (later 90's changed to 68mm I believe). London based preferable, unless willing to post.

22.5" centre-top

Cheers.

Looks to be a 23" but I am leaning across a couple of other bikes .

I am based in Wellingborough Northamptonshire which is about an hour from at pancras

Just apropos of nothing I think it's a little bit earlier than that - 1984-5ish I think. It's identical to the one I bought in, I think, 1984 :D

Have you seen this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/raleigh-ligh ... SwOvRda6sQ

Very much a Randonneur equivalent and a good price as well.

1977 may be a bit early for you but this was the pre-curser to the Randonneur.

Looks in VGC as well.

The seller is wrong, that frame was made circa 1987/1988 and sold by Raleigh through its dealer network as a frame only for £125. I think the only differences between it and the Randonneur frame were that it doesn't have a spoke holder on the LH chainstay and the paint is not as good/nice as on the Randonneur (but the paint on that one does look in good condition). I think Raleigh must have had spare capacity at the time, and made a large batch of those frames which it sold relatively cheaply but as frames only to avoid undermining their sales of the Randonneur bikes.

Thanks for the replies!

These models are a bit too early. I'm looking for a later model 531st - approx 1985/6 onwards.

Cheers
