Universal Brake Hoods

Postby Tcc » 25 Aug 2019, 6:46pm

I’m in the process of sympathetically restoring a 1960s racing bike which has Universal Type 68 brakes/levers.
The brown rubber hoods perished long ago and I wonder if anyone has a pair ? They are quite an unusual shape and have a separate brown rubber “ferrule” that sits on top where the cable enters the lever.
Thanks for your help

Cane Creek still make Weinmann-type non-aero hoods. They aren't quite the right shape, they don't have covers for the ferrules, and it's a long time since I've seen any Universal levers to remember how close the fit would be, but they may be the nearest available unless you're lucky on eBay.
