Black Brooks B17 for B17 Imperial (any colour)

Postby Jezrant » 8 Sep 2019, 9:49pm

Anyone have a B17 Imperial that they would like to swap for a standard Black B17 in very good condition, never tensioned?

No, but I've got a Stanley knife with a fresh blade which you're welcome to borrow...?

Joking aside, I'm pretty sure that is an option if you're steady of hand - I'm not aware of any other differences except perhaps the lacing which again is an easy fix, although I'm always happy to be corrected!

I'd make a pig's breakfast out of it. Saw a listing on fleabay for a very cheap Rivet that someone had butchered.

Fair enough - I imagine much of my flippant confidence would also evaporate as blade approached leather and it all became rather 'real'!

Take it to a saddler. They will do it right for you. Minimal charge me thinks.

Thanks, it's a thought. Not quite ready to sacrifice mine. The idea of trying an Imperial is a bit of an experiment. I'm not sure the cut-out will change much for me (it could be the nose of the saddle is the issue), so I'd rather not modify a perfectly good B17.
