I followed the link within the link to the CUK guide How to stop your bike from being stolen No obvious mention in there of recording your bike's serial number, which may be why it's not in the press release.

Yes, that seems a glaring omission. There's no recommendation to use two different locks in high risk areas. There's mention of O locks but not of using plugin cables or simply locking a cable to the O. There's justifiable scepticism about the lock standards but entirely too much trust of the commercial bike registers. And maybe adding something about keeping an eye on bikes on trains and locking folding bikes to handrails or luggage racks would be good...

Getting back to the theft... do we know where all the former councillors were?
