Stolen in Suffolk

Post by waltzking »

A silver 2007 Marin mountain bike (hardtail - "Bear Valley" model) was stolen from Ipswich (docklands area) the weekend of 14 September 2012.

The bike had front suspension, disc brakes, a triple chain set, rack for panniers, bottle holder and a clip attachment on the front handle bars for touring-map box.

There are no defining markings, but the seat post is raised very high (I'm 6'2" and it's a challenge to straddle).

Anyone trying to re-sale or reuse would likely call in to a speciality bike shop for at least two reasons:
1) it had anti-theft wheel nuts on the forks and seat post
2) the rear wheel has a loose/broken spoke and needs repair.

This is the third bike I've had stolen from a "secure" parking garage within a year of having moved to Ipswich. I spent the last 7 years in Oxford and never had any of my bikes pinched. (This particular bike survived trips to British Columbia, treks across India, Switzerland, and a year in the Bavarian alps. Sadly, it was no match for the local scum.)

If anyone finds a trace, as ever with such cases, I would be hugely grateful.

Cheers,

Matthew
