)It seems that in recent years, the sheer ease of photocopying/ scanning etc has made the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street less able to deal with copying of banknotes (as opposed to forgery.) On a junior CID course a long time ago, we had a talk about forgery from an enforcement chap at the BofE and in those days they even took a dim view of tourist souvenirs like teatowels having reproductions of £££.
