21" Ellis Briggs. Super Tourist. Removed from sale.

Postby DeepdalePete » 4 Oct 2020, 10:30pm

Only selling as I'm clearing the decks and intend to just ride and ogle at the forum.

This is a lovely fast touring bike.

The Seat tube measures: 21" c2c.

Top tube measures: 22" c2c.

head tube measures: a tad over 4".

Stand over height is: 30.5"

Has a beautiful Ellis Briggs Reynolds 531 butted frame in Ivory with outlined lugs.

9 speed Shimano Tiagra group set.

Mavic 117 (36h) Rims with Shimano Deore hubs.

Wide range touring 9 speed cassette. (11 - 32t).

Chainset is a 50 - 40 - 30.

Shimano cantis with new pads.

Deda Speciale drop handlebars 43 cm (external measurement).

BBB touring head set.

Schwalbe Marathon 700 x 32c touring tyres.

Full length mudguards.

Cateye Velo 5 computer.

Velo seat post and stem.

San Marco Rolls saddle.

Lovely brass bell.

MKS touring pedals.

Also has the added advantage of Cane Creek Cross Top handlebar brakes, which are very impressive.

2 x Elite bottle cages.

Also comes with the rear rack.

The frame has been touched up in several places but it's been done quite well. I don't know if it's the colour but they just will not photograph.

It's a lovely smooth, fast, responsive and well planted bike.

Collection preferred from the GL2 area of Gloucestershire.

Payment by cash on collection or bank transfer.

£495.

Yes I know it's a poor photo, but you'll get the gist of it from it. I'll put some nice ones up tomorrow.

So, I've been asked about size.

Um. I would say 5'6" - 5' 8" tall.

As you see it in the pictures, it's set up for someone in between.

Hope this helps any prospective purchaser.

With regards to how it rides:

Pretty much like a Thorn but smoother and it's much nicer looking.

Given the way things are with my knee caused by a mishap on a MTB of all things, I've no option but to sell this.

I am prepared to courier the bike but it will be based around my work commitments.

Courier to standard UK post codes will be an additional £45 and it will require re-assembly as the mudguards will also be removed.

What is the size of the single (?) chainwheel and the range of the 9 speed cassette...smallest and largest will do? Thanks. Seriously interested.

Ah righto. I was sure I put that in the listing but do you know what, I didn't !

Wide range touring 9 speed cassette. (11 - 32t).

Chainset is a 50 - 40 - 30.

I omitted this info from the original listing.

Very pretty! Can you tell me measurement c centre b/b to saddle top up the seat tube as in photos? Is it a threadless steerer or running quill adapter?

In answer to the previous questions:

The measurement is 26.5".

It's a 1" thread less fork that has a shim for the current Velo stem.
