57cm 1980's Holdsworth Road Bike on Gumtree sold

Postby martin biggs » 1 Jan 2018, 12:30pm

Mid 1980's Holdsworth racing bike , presumed to be an " Avanti 501 " model but unsure as no decals left in place .

all original pint that has a few battle scars but no dents or cracks but a degree of patina and some paint fade .

57cm or 22 1/2" frame size with a standover height of 80cm or 31 3/4" so suit somebody 5ft 9" upwards aprox .

Suntour friction controlled gearing , 700c wheels with useable tyres , weinmann 500 calipers and matching levers , custom crank set , 105 mm stem and audax type drop bars and a soft saddle .

just been checked over , ie wheel hub bearings and headset bearings re greased and brakes adjusted . all works and ideal student / commuting bike or just a general winter bike . Far from mint condition but it has performed fine on the 30+ miles i have covered on it . A bit more fettling will get this ideal .

asking £95 collected from NN8 Wellingborough postcode

Or can send via a 3 working day courier for an extra £30

Please note lights , saddle bag , garmin mount, bell and clip in pedals not included in sale although a set of pedals will be .

martin: do you have the top tube and head tube measurements (preferably in cm) and is the top tube horizontal?
Do you know if the rear drop out (OLN) is 130?
I presume it doesn't have pannier rack eyes on the seat stays but does have mudguard eyes. Was it really a racer as such?

Cheers, horizon

i would oln is 126mm and only 1 set of eye at each end fr & rr and no upper mounting points so more of a road bike rather than a touring frame

Hi Martin: how many speeds is it and what size tyres is it currently running?
